OPPORTUNITIES FOR FAMILY ACTIVITIES

On the water, enjoy cruises, raft-ups and water sports, including predicted log contest, and an annual regatta. Off the water, enjoy picnics, parties and special events.


OPPORTUNITIES FOR COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Participate in our local Port Captain Program and provide information on the local rivers and lakes and their associated marinas to visitors to our area. Help reach fellow boaters by staffing an informational booth at the annual Des Moine Boat Show and at local marinas in the area. Become a Vessel Safety Examiner by getting certified as a Vessel Safety Examiner and conducting Vessel Safety Exams in our local waters.

WHY SHOULD I BECOME A MEMBER?

In looking over this web site and reading below you can see all of the activities that we are involved in. If you want to learn more about boating and want to be with peoples whose interest is boating then this is probably the best organization that meets those needs.


Types of membership that welcome you as a new member.

There are several types of membership in the USPS and its squadrons. The primary ones for consideration for new membership into the Des Moines Sail and Power Squadron are:

Active Member An Active members of the Des Moines Sail and Power Squadron is granted full rights and privileges associated with the United States Power Squadrons including the holding of elected administrative office and voting for elected officials.

Family Unit All family members of an Active member may join and are granted all rights and privileges of membership up to but not including the holding of elected administrative office and voting for elected officials.

A further distinction is made between adult family members and junior family members (children 14 and under).


COST OF MEMBERSHIP

Active Member - $ 83.00 annually + $20 one-time new member administrative fee (Total $103.00 first year)

Family Member - $ 125.50 annually + $20 one-time new member administrative fee (Total $145.50 first year)

Life Member w/attached family member $ 43.50

Apprentice/Sea Scout - $15.00 + $20 one-time new member administration fee (Total $35 first year)
